NAVI MUMBAI: The Khandeshwar police booked three unidentified people on Friday, who allegedly robbed a senior citizen from Khanda Colony of cash and jewellery worth Rs56,000.

Macchigal Raghuraman, 68, a resident of Lake View CHS was riding his two-wheeler on Tuesday, when he was stopped by the three on the road. “One of the accused introduced himself as the local corporator, Raju Patil, and asked him where he was going,” said Vikash Suryavanshi, sub-inspector.

The three asked how much cash he had with him. They also wanted to see the gold rings he was wearing. Within a few minutes, they took the cash and the rings and sped away in a bike. No arrest has been made.

“The victim registered an FIR. When we asked him why didn’t he shout for help, he was unable to reply. We think the suspects had hypnotised him,” Suryavanshi said.
