Man who murdered wife arrested from Karnataka
KAMOTHE: Three days after a 33-year-old man fled after repeatedly stabbing his wife the police have arrested the man, who is a videographer.
On Sunday night, Salim alias Azharudding Shaikh had repeatedly stabbed his wife Anwari, 28, with a kitchen knife following an argument at their residence in Sector 12, Kamothe.
While Salim fled after the incident, Anwari was rushed to MGM hospital in Kamothe, where she succumbed to her injuries on Monday morning.
The police teams were looking for Salim in Mumbai and his native place in Karnataka.
“A team sent to Bagalkot in Karnataka arrested Shaikh from Jamakhandi on Tuesday,” said Sriram Mullemwar, senior inspector, Kamothe police station.
“The court has remanded him in police custody for five days,” added Mullemwar.
According to the police, the couple had been married for eight years and fought regularly. Anwari’s father Shaikh Qamruddin told the police the couple had problems as they did not have a child and Salim was also an alcoholic.
