APMC employees to donate day’s salary to drought-hit

Coming to the relief of drought-hit farmers in the state, the Agricultur­e Produce Market Committee (APMC) in Vashi has planned to donate a day’s salary of all its employees and officials. The committee has also appealed to residents to contribute towards the relief fund. APMC secretary Shivaji Pahinkar and Mathadi leader Shashikant Shinde had asked employees to help those affected by this year’s drought and decision to donate a day’s salary was taken. “It is our duty to help the farmers in distress. The market will survive only if the farmers survive,” said Pahinkar.
