Man prom­ises job to 15-year-old, rapes her

Five days af­ter a mi­nor was al­legedly raped by a Turbhe res­i­dent, who had lured her with a job, the po­lice ar­rested the man from Hanu­man Na­gar on Oc­to­ber 30. The po­lice are on the look-out for a woman ac­com­plice of the ac­cused.

Vi­jay Bansode, 27, a painter by pro­fes­sion, was ar­rested fol­low­ing a tip-off re­ceived by the po­lice. Ac­cord­ing to deputy com­mis­sioner of po­lice Shahji Umap, on Oc­to­ber 23, Bansode had told the 15-year-old vic­tim and her friend at the vic­tim’s res­i­dence he could get them a house­keep­ing job through a re­cruit­ment agency.

“The two girls along with three other women, then, ac­com­pa­nied Bansode for a job in­ter­view to the agency,” said Umap at a press con­fer­ence on Wed­nes­day.

Bansode took Rs1500 from the women as cost for uni­form and copies of their iden­ti­fi­ca­tion and pan card. He asked the vic­tim and her friend to wait at Airoli rail­way sta­tion and the other women to wait at the gate of Mindspace com­pany.

He then took the two girls to Vashi where he asked the vic­tim’s friend to wait at a bus stop, while he took the vic­tim un­der the pretense of pre­par­ing her bio­data.

“On the way they met a woman who of­fered wa­ter to the vic­tim, who fell semi-con­scious af­ter that. Bansode took the vic­tim to a lodge in Sec­tor 11, Vashi, where he threat­ened to kid­nap and rape the vic­tim’s friend. He then raped the vic­tim,” said Umap.

Bansode took the vic­tim back to her friend and took away her mobile phone worth Rs 1,200, her gold ear­rings worth Rs5,800 in re­turn for jobs. He then fled the spot.

The vic­tim, a res­i­dent of Sec­tor 1, Airoli, reg­is­tered a case on Oc­to­ber 24.

“The ac­cused has con­fessed to his crime and we have also re­cov­ered the ar­ti­cles he had taken away,” said Umap.
