Green nod for Mumbai’s coastal road in 15 days
MUMBAI: The decks were cleared for the 33.2-km coastal road project in Mumbai with Union environment minister Prakash Javadekar assuring chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on Wednesday that the final notification allowing reclamation for the ambitious project will be issued in the next 15 days.
However, more delays seem inevitable for the 22-km Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL) project with ministry officials stating that the recent National Green Tribunal (NGT) order — as per which the project will need to get fresh environmental clearance — will need to be adhered to.
Fadnavis along with other senior state government officials met Javadekar and ministry officials in New Delhi to review pending environmental clearances for the two mega infrastructure projects.
On the notification for the coastal road, the ministry said that it will insist that the construction should be done “without affect in the tidal flow of water”.
