ILLEGAL PARKING ON SERVICE ROAD IRKS COMMUTERS
The menace of illegal parking on the service road of Thane- Belapur Road has left commuters distressed.
The road, being used to park vehicles of private companies and showrooms, have little room for commuters. The illegal parking leads to traffic chaos, particularly during office hours.
Motorists also say the parking could lead to serious accidents.
The Thane- Belapur Road has the industrial belt on the east and hence sees heavy vehicles plying continuously. The service road was constructed to control the traffic flow and prevent accidents.
Things are however changing now.
“Some private companies and showrooms have taken over a lot of space on the service road,” said Prakash Malhotra, a regular commuter in the area.
“The situation is worse near the flyover at Khairane. The service road next to the flyover is used for parking purposes,” said Malhotra.
“A few months ago, the traffic police had taken action against vehicles parked in the area on the service road. However, the vehicles parked near the flyover were ignored,” said Akash Patil, another commuter.
The traffic police officials, however, said they regularly take action against all vehicles parked on the service road or obstructing traffic.
They denied any bias and assured that their action will continue in the future too.
