Res­i­dents do­nate blood in mem­ory of 26/ 11 mar­tyrs

As a mark of re­spect for the mar­tyrs of the 26/ 11 Mum­bai terror at­tacks, around 200 res­i­dents do­nated blood at a camp at Vashi rail­way sta­tion.

The camp was or­gan­ised for the sixth year by Mus­lim Ekta Foun­da­tion in as­so­ci­a­tion with Navi Mum­bai Mu­nic­i­pal Cor­po­ra­tion from 10 am to 6 pm on Thurs­day.

Po­lice com­mis­sioner Prab­hat Ran­jan also vis­ited the camp.

“We had more than 200 peo­ple do­nat­ing blood for those in need. Re­spect­ing the mar­tyrs on this day, res­i­dents and com­muters come for­ward to do­nate blood,” said Mo­hammed Salim Shaikh, ex­ec­u­tive chair­man of the foun­da­tion.

Cer­tifi­cates were is­sued to all donors.

Mean­while, Navi Mum­bai po­lice or­gan­ised a pro­gramme at Shivaji Chowk in Vashi to salute and pray trib­utes to the se­cu­rity per­son­nel who lost their lives while saving a hun­dred oth­ers.

Can­dles were lit on the oc­ca­sion.“26/ 11 was a vir­tual war on our city and na­tion. The po­lice and para­mil­i­tary forces fought bravely,” said the po­lice com­mis­sioner.
