PO­LICE MEET BANK AU­THOR­I­TIES TO CRE­ATE AWARE­NESS

The Thane po­lice, af­ter re­ceiv­ing or­der from Param­bir Singh, com­mis­sioner of po­lice, have not only dis­played posters and ban­ners about cy­ber fraud, but have or­dered ev­ery po­lice sta­tion’s com­mand­ing of­fi­cers to visit banks and cre­ate aware­ness about such fraud. “Re­cently, we had a meet­ing with all the bank man­agers in our ju­ris­dic­tion in­clud­ing na­tion­alised, state and lo­cal banks, and made them aware about the rise in debit card fraud. We told them that ev­ery­one who opens a new ac­count with them should be asked not to share their debit card de­tails on phone or any such de­tails that could re­sult in a crime. Such a pro­gramme was con­ducted by ev­ery po­lice sta­tion in the com­mis­sion­er­ate,” said Ab­hi­jeet Mo­hite, po­lice in­spec­tor (crime), Ka­pur­bawdi po­lice sta­tion.

The Thane po­lice have put up sev­eral posters across the city, such as this one at Teen Haat Naka, sen­si­tis­ing peo­ple about cy­ber fraud.
