PAN­VEL: The of­fi­cials and per­son­nel of Navi Mum­bai Agri­cul­ture Pro­duce Mar­ket Com­mit­tee (APMC) have do­nated a day’s salary for the drought af­fected farm­ers of the state. A cheque of Rs7,65,427 was handed over to chief min­is­ter Deven­dra Fadnavis by APMC. It is the first mar­ket com­mit­tee in the state to do so. The gov­ern­ment has es­tab­lished APMCs in ev­ery taluka to en­sure that the farm­ers get a mar­ket for them­selves and the agri­cul­ture pro­duce gets good sale price. There are around 200 APMCs in the state. The APMC in Navi Mum­bai is con­sid­ered the big­gest of them all. The de­ci­sion was wel­comed by the unions of the APMC of­fi­cers and per­son­nel and also other work­ers unions.
