DROUGHT-HIT FARMERS TO GET `7L FROM APMC
PANVEL: The officials and personnel of Navi Mumbai Agriculture Produce Market Committee (APMC) have donated a day’s salary for the drought affected farmers of the state. A cheque of Rs7,65,427 was handed over to chief minister Devendra Fadnavis by APMC. It is the first market committee in the state to do so. The government has established APMCs in every taluka to ensure that the farmers get a market for themselves and the agriculture produce gets good sale price. There are around 200 APMCs in the state. The APMC in Navi Mumbai is considered the biggest of them all. The decision was welcomed by the unions of the APMC officers and personnel and also other workers unions.
