Dis­trict sports meet for spe­cial kids be­gins to­day

KHARGHAR: On the oc­ca­sion of World Dis­abil­ity Day the So­cial Wel­fare Depart­ment, zilla Par­ishad Thane along with Swami Brah­manand Pratishthan, Cen­tre for Spe­cial Chil­dren is or­gan­is­ing Dis­trict Sports Meet on De­cem­ber 3 at Bharat Ratna Late Shri Ra­jiv Gandhi Krida Sankul, Sec­tor 3, CBD, Navi Mum­bai. Ac­cord­ing to Sukanya Venkatara­man, prin­ci­pal of Pratishthan, “A to­tal of 25 spe­cial schools un­der Thane zilla Par­ishad will par­tic­i­pat­ing in the event. Around 421 stu­dents with dif­fer­ent dis­abil­i­ties such as hear­ing im­pair­ment, vis­ual im­pair­ment, men­tal re­tar­da­tion, or­tho­pe­dic and mul­ti­ple dis­abil­i­ties will par­tic­i­pate in var­i­ous ath­letic and aquatic events.” In­formed Venkatara­man, “The aquatic events were held on Wed­nes­day at YMCA, Sec­tor 3, CBD. On Thurs­day, the events will be­gin at 9.30 am and will con­tinue till 4pm.
