Foot overbridge to link rly station, Turbhe Store
TURBHE: Owing to increasing traffic on the Thane-Belapur Road near Turbhe railway station, the civic body has decided to construct a foot overbridge (FOB).
Last month, a mother-son duo from Turbhe Store, was killed in an accident while crossing the road.
The proposed FOB will be constructed at a cost of Rs20 crore.
“The speed breakers we installed a few months ago seem to have caused more congestion. Hence, it was decided to construct an FOB and remove the speed breakers,” said Sanjay Desai, executive engineer, city engineering department of Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC).
According to the officials, the construction of the FOB will be completed within the next two months.
Turbhe resident Anil Kumar Singh said, “The FOB will help prevent accidents and save time.”
