INCIDENT IS A SIGN OF DESPERATION: RESIDENTS

Hindustan Times ST (Mumbai) - HT Navi Mumbai Live - - NAVI MUMBAI -

The population in Kamothe is increasing and there is a demand for 42 million litres a day (mld) of water

The node only receives 24mld of water currently

The situation is made worse by frequent water cuts

Residents have held several meetings with Cidco officials

They have organised agitations and morchas too

Cidco purchases water for Kamothe from NMMC

The water that Cidco gets from Maharashtra Jeevan Pradhikaran for Kalamboli and New Panvel is not enough for those nodes itself and hence it cannot diverting the water to Kamothe.

If water supply is not restored to the required levels, we will lock the Cidco office here. RAMSETH THAKUR, former MP
