Hosts In­dia will play Pak­istan on March 19 next year at Dharam­sala in the World Twenty20 group stages. The 27-day show­piece tour­na­ment, which will fea­ture 16 teams, will be played across eight venues be­tween March 8 and April 3

THE FOR­MAT

QUAL­I­FY­ING STAGE: Eight teams will be split into two groups. Bangladesh, Nether­lands, Ire­land, Oman are in Group A, while Group B com­prises Zim­babwe, Scot­land, Afghanistan and Hong Kong

SU­PER 10: The top side each from Group A and Group B will progress to Su­per 10 stage, where they will play along­side the eight top ranked T20 teams in Group 1 and Group 2

TOP TEAMS BAT­TLE FOR GLORY

GROUP 1: Sri Lanka, South Africa, Eng­land, West Indies and win­ner (Group B)

GROUP 2: In­dia, Pak­istan, Aus­tralia, New Zealand and win­ner (Group A)

SEMI-FI­NALS: The top two teams each from Group 1 and Group 2 will play progress to the semi-fi­nals. The first semi-fi­nal will be played in Delhi on March 30 and the sec­ond semi-fi­nal in Mum­bai on March 31

FI­NAL: The fi­nal will be played in Kolkata on April 3.
