MAIN SUS­PECT’S BIZ LOSSES LED TO THE DOU­BLE MUR­DER: PO­LICE

Ques­tion­ing of the four sus­pects ar­rested for the Kan­di­vli dou­ble mur­der has re­vealed that Vid­hyad­har Ra­jb­har, the prime sus­pect, who re­mains at large, had run up losses of about Rs50 lakh in an im­i­ta­tion jew­ellery busi­ness he ran, the po­lice said on Wed­nes­day.

This, the ar­rested sus­pects have told cops, made Vid­hyad­har des­per­ate for money and even­tu­ally led to the deaths of Hema Upad­hyay and her l awyer Haresh Bham­bani, whose bod­ies were found in card­board boxes in a drain in Kan­di­vli on Satur­day.

Vid­hyad­har had sold two rooms in the chawl at Lalji­pada in Kan­di­vli (West) and in­vested the money in an im­i­ta­tion jew­ellery busi­ness, part­ner­ing with two to three friends, the sus­pects have told the po­lice.
