“When one of his roommates reached home at 8.30pm, he found that door bolted from inside. Even after knocking on the door for a long time he received no response. He then peeped through a window and saw him hanging from the ceiling fan,” said a police officer from Kopar Khairane police station.

The roommate then informed the police and rushed Poojari to a nearby hospital. But he was declared brought dead by the doctors.

The police have recovered a suicide note from the house. In the letter, written in Marathi, the deceased had mentioned a girl’s name.

In the letter, he said that he could not get her in this life and wished to be united with her in his next birth.

“We think he was in love with that girl but the girl did not respond or reciprocate his feelings. He might have gone into depression and ended his life. We will investigate the case further to know if there was any other reason,” he added.

The police have registered an accidental death case and are investigating the case.
