housing society, located in sector 10, has become the first housing society to get the commencement certificate from NMMC for redevelopment. The decision paves the way for relief to at least 12,000 families living in dilapidated buildings in the city that have been declared dangerous by NMMC.

The state government

policy decision to grant 2.5 FSI for redevelopment of dilapidated Cidco-constructed buildings was announced in February this year.

Within six months

of the decision, Vashi’s Shraddha, Kailash, Ekta, Jai Maharashtra, Akash, F-type, Avni and Panchratna housing societies in which around 1,700 residents reside, submitted their application for redevelopment.

After they submitted

all documents required for the approval, NMMC gave them eligibility letter for redevelopment.

The in-principle approvals

were given by the town planning department in September.
