Soon, new con­struc­tion rules for flood-free city

NAG­PUR: To bet­ter plan con­struc­tion in low-ly­ing ar­eas and be pre­pared for a Chennai-en­nai-like del­uge, builders will soon have to sub­mit a con­tour map — that shows the height of an area above sea level — while seek­ing per­mis­sion for their projects.

CM Deven­dra Fadnavis made the an­nounce­ment at the on­go­ing As­sem­bly ses­sion at Nag­pur, fol­low­ing a de­bate on a pri­vate bill moved by Ban­dra leg­is­la­tor Ashish She­lar. The CM said the BMC willw make changes in the De­vel­op­ment Con­trol Reg­u­la­tions to make it manda­tory for de­vel­op­ers to sub­mit con­tour maps.
