CHANGES STANCE, OPPOSES NCP DECISION

Hindustan Times ST (Mumbai) - HT Navi Mumbai Live - - HT NAVI MUMBAI -

The Congress party which had been at loggerheads with the NCP over the past many years is now in alliance with it and hence had been guarded in its reaction.

One of its corporator had however as reported in the Hindustan Times earlier said that the entire episode could have been handled better.

Congress corporator Hemangi Sonawane had said, “The projects listed under the smart city proposal are all present in the city. We needed more information on the proposal.”

She had added, “I think the municipal commissioner should have been allowed to speak. It would have helped us understand the project better.”

Sonawane added, “Also instead of rejecting the proposal outright, we should have studied it a bit more and suggested changes before taking a final decision.”

The smart city project

is worth Rs 8,000 crore and hence it would not have been right to support or oppose it in haste. We have over the past few days studied the proposal and proposed works in detail and decided on our position.
