ROOTING FOR PROJECT
Following the rejection of the smart city project proposal by the ruling NCP in the NMMC general body, the opposition led by MLA Manda Mhatre and NMMC opposition leader Vijay Chougule had approached chief minister Devendra Fadnavis to intervene.
The Congress too has now said the same.
The opposition has said instead of outright rejection, the NCP should have taken it into confidence and made suggestions to be incorporated in the proposal.
The have been reports that the NCP, which is on the back foot following a strong opposition to its rejection, could bring the proposal back in the general body for discussion.
Fadnavis then issued orders to suspend the decision of the NMMC general body and gave order to the administration to submit the proposal to the central government before the December 15 deadline.
He also gave a 30-day period to NMMC to have its say in the matter.
Municipal commissioner Dinesh Waghmare too made a presentation to the chief secretary.
