Fol­low­ing the re­jec­tion of the smart city project pro­posal by the rul­ing NCP in the NMMC gen­eral body, the op­po­si­tion led by MLA Manda Mha­tre and NMMC op­po­si­tion leader Vi­jay Chougule had ap­proached chief min­is­ter Deven­dra Fadnavis to in­ter­vene.

The Congress too has now said the same.

The op­po­si­tion has said in­stead of out­right re­jec­tion, the NCP should have taken it into con­fi­dence and made sug­ges­tions to be in­cor­po­rated in the pro­posal.

The have been re­ports that the NCP, which is on the back foot fol­low­ing a strong op­po­si­tion to its re­jec­tion, could bring the pro­posal back in the gen­eral body for dis­cus­sion.

Fadnavis then is­sued or­ders to sus­pend the de­ci­sion of the NMMC gen­eral body and gave or­der to the ad­min­is­tra­tion to sub­mit the pro­posal to the cen­tral gov­ern­ment be­fore the De­cem­ber 15 dead­line.

He also gave a 30-day pe­riod to NMMC to have its say in the mat­ter.

Mu­nic­i­pal com­mis­sioner Di­nesh Wagh­mare too made a pre­sen­ta­tion to the chief sec­re­tary.
