The long-pend­ing de­mand of Navi Mum­bai res­i­dents was ful­filled on Fe­bru­ary 5 af­ter the state gov­ern­ment is­sued a no­ti­fi­ca­tion grant­ing 2.5 FSI for re­de­vel­op­ment of Cidco-con­structed dan­ger­ous and di­lap­i­dated build­ings that are ore than 30 years old.

The no­ti­fi­ca­tion that has been pub­lished in the of­fi­cial gazette states that ev­ery res­i­den­tial ten­e­ment will have a ba­sic en­ti­tle­ment equiv­a­lent to the car­pet area of the ex­ist­ing ten­e­ment plus 35% thereof, sub­ject to a min­i­mum car­pet area of 300 sqft.

It has also of­fered an in­cen­tive of up to 3 FSI in cases where sev­eral build­ings in a sec­tor com­bine to­gether to opt for re­de­vel­op­ment.

The gov­ern­ment of­fered to in­crease by 15% the re­ha­bil­i­ta­tion area en­ti­tle­ment in case the re­de­vel­op­ment is taken up through Cidco
