Ma­ha­rash­tra to soon get an on­line con­sumer com­plaint sys­tem

MUM­BAI: In a first in the coun­try, the Ma­ha­rash­tra Con­sumer Dis­putes Re­dres­sal Com­mis­sion will soon in­tro­duce an on­line com­plaint fil­ing sys­tem. This will help con­sumers file com­plaints and pay court fees from home, making the sys­tem pa­per-less.

Ac­cord­ing to of­fi­cials, an agency, In-So­lu­tions Global Pvt Ltd, has de­signed the on­line pro­gram for the en­tire process – from fil­ing to ap­peal and re­vi­sion ap­pli­ca­tion. The sys­tem is be­ing tested and is likely to get ac­ti­vated soon. “The on­line sys­tem, which is likely to be im­ple­mented soon, is user-friendly. Un­der this sys­tem, the con­sumer or ad­vo­cate will have to cre­ate a user pro­file to file their ap­pli­ca­tion. Th­ese ap­pli­ca­tions will be re­ferred to as e-files,” said Uday Wavikar, vice-pres­i­dent, Con­sumer Court Ad­vo­cate Bar As­so­ci­a­tion.

“The sys­tem will pro­vide one more way to ap­proach the com- mis­sion. Af­ter cre­at­ing a pro­file, the user will get many op­tions to file ap­pli­ca­tions. The tem­plates and for­mats for all ap­pli­ca­tions have been added to the pro­gram. The con­sumer will just have to fill in the blanks,” said Wavikar.
