Railway station turns stage for Christmas carols
The Infant Jesus Church Kopar Khairane organised Christmas carols at the Kopar Khairane Railway station premises and near D Mart shopping centre on Wednesday.
The birth of child Jesus was depicted through a skit by members of the church followed by carol singing by children and youth.
According to Fr Jinto Edattukunnel, parish Priest of Infant Jesus church, “Many people are still not aware about the f act behind Christmas. Today the festival is around Santa Claus, Christmas tree and decorative lights.” A play depicting the birth of Jesus, was presented at the Kopar Khairane railway station
He informed, “The fact is that it is the birthday of Jesus Christ. This depiction of the birth of child Jesus was a big thing for the 500 people who
gathered around railway station premises.”
Santa later on distributed sweets and goodies to all people around. The performance near D -Mart Circle also attracted lot of crowd.
“This was a great experience for me,” said Vikas Mhatre, a resident of sector- 4 in Kopar Khairane, who was very happy to be around with his children and experience the facts behind Christmas. “No one can explain how God could become a baby. Yet he did. Without forsaking his divine nature or diminishing his deity, he was born into our world as a tiny infant,” said Antony Philip who co-ordinated the whole event.
