Rail­way sta­tion turns stage for Christ­mas carols

The In­fant Je­sus Church Kopar Khairane or­gan­ised Christ­mas carols at the Kopar Khairane Rail­way sta­tion premises and near D Mart shop­ping cen­tre on Wed­nes­day.

The birth of child Je­sus was de­picted through a skit by mem­bers of the church fol­lowed by carol singing by chil­dren and youth.

Ac­cord­ing to Fr Jinto Edat­tukun­nel, parish Priest of In­fant Je­sus church, “Many peo­ple are still not aware about the f act be­hind Christ­mas. To­day the fes­ti­val is around Santa Claus, Christ­mas tree and dec­o­ra­tive lights.” A play de­pict­ing the birth of Je­sus, was pre­sented at the Kopar Khairane rail­way sta­tion

He in­formed, “The fact is that it is the birth­day of Je­sus Christ. This de­pic­tion of the birth of child Je­sus was a big thing for the 500 peo­ple who

gath­ered around rail­way sta­tion premises.”

Santa later on dis­trib­uted sweets and good­ies to all peo­ple around. The per­for­mance near D -Mart Cir­cle also at­tracted lot of crowd.

“This was a great ex­pe­ri­ence for me,” said Vikas Mha­tre, a res­i­dent of sec­tor- 4 in Kopar Khairane, who was very happy to be around with his chil­dren and ex­pe­ri­ence the facts be­hind Christ­mas. “No one can ex­plain how God could be­come a baby. Yet he did. With­out for­sak­ing his divine na­ture or di­min­ish­ing his de­ity, he was born into our world as a tiny in­fant,” said Antony Philip who co-or­di­nated the whole event.
