Cops to issue orders to farmhouse owners
NAVI MUMBAI: Navi Mumbai police (zone 2) has organised a meeting with the owners and the managers of farmhouses in Panvel on Monday for ensuring a peaceful New Year celebration.
Four real estate agents were found murdered in one of the farmhouses in Panvel during Diwali in 2012.
“There are several farm houses along Panvel-Matheran and Panvel Hajimalag road in our area. Some of them are owned by film actors too. The owners normally come to these farm houses during such occasions with their friends and family members. Therefore we are taking initiatives to ensure that no untoward incidents take place here during the celebrations,” said Viswash Pandhare, deputy commissioner of police (zone 2).
“We will instruct the owners and the managers not to organise any rave party and other immoral activities there. People should not come there with weapons. Strict actions will be taken if we find anyone violating the norms. We will also deploy officials on these roads for conducting special checking from December 30,” he added.
Hotels and restaurants in Navi Mumbai will be allowed to be open till 5 am on January 1.
VR Chauhan, additional commissioner of police of Navi Mumbai said, “Our officials will be deployed at all important points of Sion-Panvel highway, Thane-Belapur road and Palm Beach road for the whole night. Around 40 nakabandis will be conducted across the city, including 4 to 6 nakabandis on Palm Beach road alone.”
“We have also instructed our anti narcotic cell to stay alert so that no one gets any chance to sell drugs to the students and other youth. We hope the city will see a peaceful celebration like the previous years,” he added.
