MAN ARRESTED FOR POSING AS DEPUTY SP
NAVI MUMBAI: A 49-year-old man from APMC, who introduced himself as deputy superintendent of police of anti-corruption bureau, was arrested by Vashi police on Friday. The police have also recovered one fake identity card from his possession.
According to the police, Ashok Kumar Nagaria would put a board in his 4-wheeler that read Dy SP, ACB, Navi Mumbai. He parked his vehicle near Centre One mall on Friday. “Acting on a tip off, we sent one of our teams to check if the owner of the vehicle was really a police official. However, during interrogation, the accused was unable to give coherent replies. Our officials found the fake identity card with him. He was then taken to the police station and we formally arrested him after a few hours,” said CM Godse, assistant police inspector, Vashi police station. “Initially, the accused was trying to mislead us with some wrong details. However, when asked, he failed to produce any documents issue by the central or state government. We booked him under section 170 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC),” Godse said.
The accused was produced before the judicial court on Friday afternoon and was released on bail.
