Panvel: Disabled people have protested against the Panvel Municipal Council (PMC) for not spending enough for their development. In a rally on Tuesday, disabled people alleged that though PMC allocates 3% of its annual revenue for the development of people with disabilities, it had not used the fund for the last three financial years. Vishnu Dhakr, a leader of Prahar Apang Kriti (PAK) that organised the protest said, “In 201213, PMC had allocated Rs10 lakh for the disabled. It had spent Rs6,56,388. What happened to the remaining Rs3,43,612?” Mangesh Chitale, chief executive officer, PMC said, “Those who have over 40% disability should get themselves registered with us by following the specified process. In the current financial year, we will ensure that the funds are distributed at the earliest.”.
