Alibaug tribals get new year gift from doctors
VASHI: City doctors brought smiles to many tribal women and children in Poynad, Alibaug, by celebrating the New Year a day early with them.
Doctors and employees from Sterling Wockhardt Hospital, Vashi, celebrated the day as part of the hospital’s monthlong donation initiative ‘Be a Santa..Joy of Giving’.
This is the second year where Wockhardt Hospital doctors, employees, patients and their relatives have donated toys, cloths stationery and utensils for the underprivileged.
This year Wockhardt Hospital doctors and employees travelled 70km from Navi Mumbai to Poynad where more than 20,000 tribals are struggling for basic necessities including education, clean water and employment.
On the occasion, more than 200 tribal families got together for the function where they received cloths utensils, toys and books for their children.
Dr Mehul Kalawadia, central head of Sterling Wockhardt Hospital said, “Our vision was to understand the problems in the society and try to help them in all possible manners. Our doctors and staff are going to organise such social initiative in the future too.”
