32 BANGLADESHIS HELD IN PANVEL
PANVEL: Thirty-two Bangladeshi nationals were arrested by the police in the Motha Khanda area of New Panvel. According to the police, the illegal immigrants were selling fruits and worked as labourers at construction sites to earn their livelihood. “Those arrested do not have proof of being Indian nationals nor do they have documents permitting them to stay in the country,” said assistant police commissioner Sheshrao Suryavanshi. He said, “We are investigating how they came to the area and the agents involved.” Suryavanshi said there had been reports of outsiders involved in dacoities and thefts and the police formed a special squad to comb the area and find the miscreants. Those arrested have been booked under relevant sections of the Foreigners Act of 1946 and Passport Act of 1967.
