CBD BE­LA­PUR: Even as New Year rev­el­ries con­tinue, res­i­dents in­dulged in some se­ri­ous shop­ping at the win­ter fes­ti­val at Ur­ban Haat in CBD Be­la­pur over the week­end.

The fes­ti­val, which be­gan on Fri­day, drew crowd from Mum­bai, Thane and Raigad apart from Navi Mum­bai.

Shopa­holics browsed through hand­loom, hand­i­craft and dec­o­ra­tive prod­ucts dis­played at the stalls. Visi­tors were spoilt for choice with a va­ri­ety of jew­ellery made of jute, metal, sil­ver and ter­ra­cotta.

The other at­trac­tions of the fes­ti­val, which will con­tinue till Jan­uary 17, are wood craft, car­pets and wall hang­ings.

Crafts­men from Ra­jasthan have brought with them fur­ni­ture, minia­ture paint­ings and other eth­nic hand­i­crafts.

Clothes from dif­fer­ent parts of the coun­try are avail­able at pocket-friendly prices.

Visi­tors have been thrilled with the choices at the fes­ti­val.

Pratik­sha Shinde, a Kopar Khairane res­i­dent, said, “This is a good place for shop­ping and spend­ing time with fam­ily.”

Cul­tural pro­grammes have been sched­uled for the com­ing days. On Sun­day, Hobby Club will be per­form­ing live orchestra in the am­phithe­atre of the Haat from 7pm.

“City and In­dus­trial De­vel­op­ment Cor­po­ra­tion (Cico) will or­gan­ise a Sankrant Mela from Jan­uary 6 to 17,” said Mo­han Ninawe, chief pub­lic re­la­tions of­fi­cer of Cidco.
