By­polls push Marathi Tel­ugu fest to Feb 3

NERUL: The first ever Marathi Tel­ugu Ma­hot­sav, which was sup­posed to start at NMMC Tan­del Ground in Sea­woods on Wed­nes­day, has been post­poned due to the by-elec­tions in Nerul.

The five-day fest will now be or­gan­ised from Fe­bru­ary 3 to 7.

“The by-elec­tions in Nerul will be held on Jan­uary 10 due to which an elec­tion code of con­duct is in force in the city. This pre­vents any of­fi­cial func­tion in the city. Hence, we have been forced to post­pone the fest,” Nazneen Shaikh, gen­eral sec­re­tary, Nazneen Event Man­age­ment Ser­vices.

The fest is be­ing or­gan­ised by In­te­grated Ru­ral De­vel­op­ment As­so­ci­a­tion (IRDA) along with NMMC and NEMS.

It is a fi­esta of di­verse cul­tures from Ma­ha­rash­tra, Andhra Pradesh and Te­lan­gana.

“The event has been or­gan­ised to pro­mote har­mo­nious re­la­tion­ship amongst mi­grants from Ma­ha­rash­tra, Te­lan­gana and Andhra Pradesh and the so­ci­ety at large,” said Shaikh.

The fes­ti­val aims to bring to­gether mu­tual re­spect and har­mony through so­cial in­ter­ac­tions, sports, recre­ational and cul­tural ac­tiv­i­ties of sig­nif­i­cant com­mu­nity ben­e­fit.

MTM aims to cul­ti­vate, nur­ture and en­dorse har­mo­nious and in­ter­cul­tural re­la­tions be­tween Ma­ha­rash­tra, Te­len­gana and Andhra.

The fes­ti­val will wit­ness cul­tural pro­grams per­formed by the artists from ev­ery dis­trict of the three states, ex­hi­bi­tion by traders, sports com­pe­ti­tions, in­ter­cul­tural-lit­er­ary-in­dus­trial and ed­u­ca­tion sem­i­nars.

THE FIVE-DAY FES­TI­VAL OF DI­VERSE CUL­TURES FROM MA­HA­RASH­TRA, ANDHRA PRADESH AND TE­LAN­GANA WILL NOW BE OR­GAN­ISED FROM FE­BRU­ARY 3 TO 7.
