Bypolls push Marathi Telugu fest to Feb 3
NERUL: The first ever Marathi Telugu Mahotsav, which was supposed to start at NMMC Tandel Ground in Seawoods on Wednesday, has been postponed due to the by-elections in Nerul.
The five-day fest will now be organised from February 3 to 7.
“The by-elections in Nerul will be held on January 10 due to which an election code of conduct is in force in the city. This prevents any official function in the city. Hence, we have been forced to postpone the fest,” Nazneen Shaikh, general secretary, Nazneen Event Management Services.
The fest is being organised by Integrated Rural Development Association (IRDA) along with NMMC and NEMS.
It is a fiesta of diverse cultures from Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
“The event has been organised to promote harmonious relationship amongst migrants from Maharashtra, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh and the society at large,” said Shaikh.
The festival aims to bring together mutual respect and harmony through social interactions, sports, recreational and cultural activities of significant community benefit.
MTM aims to cultivate, nurture and endorse harmonious and intercultural relations between Maharashtra, Telengana and Andhra.
The festival will witness cultural programs performed by the artists from every district of the three states, exhibition by traders, sports competitions, intercultural-literary-industrial and education seminars.
