VASHI: A newly-elected man­ag­ing com­mit­tee took over the reins of the Navi Mum­bai unit of the Ma­ha­rash­tra Cham­ber of Hous­ing In­dus­try (MCHI) dur­ing the fourth An­nual Gen­eral Meet­ing (AGM) held on Mon­day at Vashi.

Prakash Baviskar was ap­pointed pres­i­dent, while Vi­jay Lakhani be­came pres­i­dent-elect. Atul Agar­wal was pro­moted to the post of trus­tee, while for­mer pres­i­dent Arvind Goel was pro­moted to the post of chair­man.

Speak­ing on the oc­ca­sion, Baviskar said, “The dy­nam­ics of the in­dus­try are chang­ing at a very fast pace. The realty in­dus­try con­tin­ues to gain promi­nence as de­mand for hous­ing is grow­ing rapidly.”

Baviskar said, “More than 700 de­vel­op­ers work in Navi Mum­bai. The sup­ply of land is less. Get­ting ap­provals in NAINA is prov­ing to be a her­culean task. Even en­croach­ment has in­creased. We will in­sist on new zon­ing within NAINA. We will also ad­dress the prob­lems faced by de­vel­op­ers in con­sum­ing the al­lot­ted 2.5 FSI in the NMMC area.”
