Singers reach out to youth, ad­vise them to stay away from drugs

VASHI: Navi Mum­bai po­lice ended the week- long ‘ Rais­ing Day’ cel­e­bra­tions on a grand note on Fri­day, with a spe­cial pro­gramme held in Vashi, which was at­tended by celebri­ties and in­cluded an anti-drug aware­ness cam­paign.

The pro­gramme, or­ga­nized by APMC po­lice, was held at Vish­nudas Bhave au­di­to­rium, Vashi. It was at­tended by mu­sic di­rec­tor and singer Shankar Ma­hade­van and singer Vaishali Made, apart from Fr. Joseph Pereira, an anti- drug cam­paigner. They all made an im­pres­sion on the large num­ber of school stu­dents in at­ten­dance at the func­tion.

Wal­ture, se­nior po­lice in­spec­tors of zone I area and other po­lice of­fi­cials and per­son­nel were present at the func­tion.

The stu­dents per­formed a play on the dan­gers of drug ad­dic­tion. Ma­hade­van and Made re­galed the au­di­ence with ren­di­tion of their pop­u­lar songs. They

also ad­vised the chil­dren to stay away from drugs.

On Thurs­day, the Na vi Mum­bai po­lice had or­gan­ised a Po­lice Mitr meet as part of the Rais­ing Day cel­e­bra­tions. Po­lice mitr, who sup­port the po­lice in their ac­tiv­i­ties, were fe­lic­i­tated on the oc­ca­sion.
