The ap­proved pol­icy opens up

1,068 plots across city for adop­tion. How­ever, ac­tivists fear it fa­cil­i­tates back­door en­try of the con­tro­ver­sial care­taker pol­icy, which might lead to plots slip­ping into the hands of pri­vate en­ti­ties

Nine such plots given to var­i­ous

en­ti­ties have be­come mem­ber­sonly prop­er­ties. They in­clude Matoshree Club and MIG Club, among oth­ers. They charge fees and have been ac­cused of not al­low­ing lo­cals ac­cess to grounds HT has been run­ning a cam­paign since 2006 to en­sure the open spa­ces should re­main ac­ces­si­ble for all cit­i­zens as they are pub­lic prop­er­ties.
