Gang of 3 arrested for house break-ins
The Kharghar police have arrested three people for house breaking and chain snatching. The police have recovered 106 gm gold worth Rs 3 lakh worth.
Senior police inspector of Kharghar police station, Dilip Kale formed 10 police squads that included assistant police inspectors Shrikant Shinde, Sudhir Wagh among others.
Kale said, “We noted that the culprits would often target women walking around Central Park and Gram Vikas Bhavan. The special squad spotted two men who were moving about in a suspicious manner in the area.”
He added, “The police team chased them and managed to get Aqueel Burania. Through information revealed by him, we managed to get his accomplice Faizan Chhatriwala as well.”
Both the accused are residents of Byculla and had rented a flat at Sector 10 of Kharghar. They have confessed to snatching at least 10 mangalsutra. The police have recovered 106 gm jewellery worth Rs2.16 lakh.
The police received a tip-off that an accused resided in Datta Bhagat chawl in Kharghar village. A trap was laid and the police arrested Vikas Barde. He confessed to five break-ins.
The police have recovered jewellery worth Rs 48,000 worth from him.
