The party submitted a memorandum of 18 demands related to civic issues of the node and demanded that they be resolved within a month. The party has threatened to organize a massive agitation at CIDCO head office if the demands are not met in the specified time.

Kharghar’s population has increased rapidly. However, the residents are upset due to inadequate water supply, garbage issues, lack of public toilets, cultural auditorium, health issues, lack of library in a node known as the knowledge city.

The hawkers have taken over the footpaths at several places, garbage is not picked up regularly which has put the health of the residents at risk.

A delegation of PWP workers met CIDCO officials and submitted the memorandum of demands to them and warned of a massive agitation.

CIDCO officer, Pradeep Dhake said: “Three recreational centres will be developed for the residents of Kharghar area by March-end. Facility of Ghanta gadi facility will be provided, two cultural auditoriums in the node and village wise community centres for the villagers.”

Executive engineer (water supply) Ramesh Giri said, “Water supply has also been planned from Hetawane dam which will help resolve water shortage.”

Balaram Patil said, “PWP has for the past 10 days been planning the agitation. As soon as Panvel MLA Prashant Thakur learnt about it, he got the bhumipujan done of 26 playgrounds and gardens to be developed by CIDCO. PWP has for years been following up on the issue while the MLA is trying to take credit for it.”
