MINOR AMONG FOUR ARRESTED FOR MURDER OF KALYAN AUTO DRIVER
Mahatma Phule Police station, Kalyan, on Wednesday arrested four youths, including one minor, for the murder of an auto rickshaw driver.
“We have charged all four youths under IPC 302 (murder). We have arrested Ajay Bhoir, 28; Yogesh Daire,22; Akshay Mali,19; and one minor boy, all of whom are Kalyan residents. They were presented before court. The court has remanded the three adult youths in police custody till January 19. The fourth youth is a minor, so he has been sent to a remand home in Bhiwandi,” said a police officer from Mahatma Phule Police station.
The incident took place on December 16, 2015. Auto rickshaw driver Naresh Karnik was driving his auto and carrying a passenger towards Beturkar Pada, Kalyan.
On his way, he found ahead of him four youth on one motorcycle.
Naresh honked multiple times, so that they would let him overtake. But they did not let him do so.
After a few metres, Naresh managed to overtake the motorcycle. Then he arguing with the four youths. After a hot argument, the youths got down from their bike and assaulted the auto driver. After thrashing him up, they ran away.
The incident took place at 11 pm, later Naresh was admitted to a private hospital. He was shifted to Sion hospital. He was severely injured, and died during treatment on January 10.
He added: “Based on the the bike’s number plate we could trace their location with the help of the RTO. We caught hold of one of the accused first and questioned him over a period of time followed by which he revealed location of his associates who joined him in committing the crime”.
