Rally against traf­fic snarls in Uran

Dis­tressed by reg­u­lar traf­fic snarls, res­i­dents par­tic­i­pated in a rally or­gan­ised by Peas­ants and Work­ers Party in Uran on Wed­nes­day.

The rally, led by for­mer MLA Vivek Patil, started from Karal Phata and ended at Chandni Chowk. There has been a dras­tic in­crease in traf­fic in the area ow­ing to ris­ing pop­u­la­tion and in­crease in num­ber of ve­hi­cles us­ing Jawa­har­lal Nehru Port Trust. “There has been lit­tle ac­tion by au­thor­i­ties. If no ac­tion is taken soon, the ag­i­ta­tion will be in­ten­si­fied.”

Traf­fic of­fi­cers said the plan­ning agen­cies are work­ing on pro­pos­als to ease traf­fic. The po­lice, too, are step­ping up mea­sures for bet­ter safety.
