Four struc­tures razed at Ghan­soli

De­mo­li­tion drive by Cidco con­tin­ued at Talavali vil­lage was car­ried in Ghan­soli for the se­cond day on Thurs­day.

While three struc­tures were de­mol­ished on Wed­nes­day, four were de­mol­ished on Thurs­day, with Cidco mak­ing its in­tent that it would act strictly against il­le­gal struc­tures. No amount of protests and op­po­si­tion by lo­cals, in­clud­ing women, stopped the ac­tion.

The struc­tures de­mol­ished dur­ing the drive on Thurs­day in­cluded a ground plus four struc­ture spread over an area of around 296 sqm and be­long­ing to Ma­hen­dra Patil at Sec­tor 22.

De­mo­li­tion of the struc­ture which was not oc­cu­pied was ve­he­mently op­posed by the lo­cals.

Cidco said that the other struc­tures de­mol­ished were a four­room un­der-con­struc­tion chawl of Deepak Patil spread over an area of around 91 sqm, an­other around 160 sqm area four-room un­der-con­struc­tion chawl be­long­ing to Patil and also a plinth-level struc­ture of MK Mad­havi spread over an area of 350 sqm.

Yo­gesh Mhase, ad­di­tional col­lec­tor and chief con­troller of unau­tho­rized con­struc­tion, said: “The struc­tures were con­structed on Cidco land with­out hav­ing any land ti­tle and de­vel­op­ment per­mis­sion and Cidco fol­lowed the process of law to re­move the en­croach­ment.”

He added that the drive was un­der­taken with the as­sis­tance and sup­port of Chan­drakant Katkar, se­nior po­lice in­spec­tor of Ra­bale po­lice sta­tion, 11 po­lice of­fi­cers and 47 po­lice per­son­nel from the po­lice sta­tion along with two strik­ing force.
