Many events have been planned as part of the Road Safety campaign to spread awareness among motorists and bikers. Many injuries and deaths are caused due to the motorcycle riders not wearing helmets. A helmet rally has been planned on Saturday, in which women bikers will educate people on importance of wearing helmets.

To emphasis the importance of giving way to life-saving ambulances, a ‘Show Way to an Ambulance’ rally has being organised on Sunday.

“In 2015, 604 instances of road accidents were reported in Navi Mumbai, which were 17% more than the previous year. The onus of our safety is on ourselves and we must follow traffic rules to ensure our safety and also save lives of other people who are in distress,” deputy commissioner of police (traffic) Arvind Salve had said on Wednesday.

The Road Safety Week, which started on Sunday, will continue till January 23.
