Man robbed of cash, mo­bile phone at Kalam­boli

NAVI MUM­BAI: A car driver robbed a 34-year-old Sind­hudurg res­i­dent of his cash and mo­bile phone at knife point on Mum­bai-Pune high­way on Thurs­day night.

Ac­cord­ing to the po­lice, the com­plaint, Ab­hishek Rai, was trav­el­ling from Pune to Mum­bai for some work in a taxi. As the car reached an iso­lated spot along near Kalam­boli around 10.45pm, the driver parked the car on the road.

“There were no other pas­sen­gers ex­cept for the com­plainant in the car. Tak­ing the ad­van­tage of the sit­u­a­tion, the driver held him at knife­point and asked for the cash and valu­ables he had with him. He also threat­ened him with dire con­se­quences, if he did not act ac­cord­ingly,” said a po­lice of­fi­cer from Kamothe po­lice sta­tion.

The driver then took Rs10,000 cash and a mo­bile phone worth Rs20,000 from Rai and fled in his car. Rai later ap­proached the po­lice and reg­is­tered an FIR against the uniden­ti­fied driver.

“We have reg­is­tered a case un­der sec­tion 392 (pun­ish­ment for rob­bery) of the In­dian Pe­nal Code. We have also re­ceived the reg­is­tra­tion num­ber of the car from the com­plaint, but have not been able to ar­rest driver so far. Our in­ves­ti­ga­tions are on,” said an­other po­lice of­fi­cer.
