Real es­tate agent killed in Mum­bra, no ar­rest yet

THANE: A 34-year-old real es­tate agent was al­legedly mur­dered by four per­sons in Mum­bra town­ship of the district, po­lice said on Fri­day.

Mo­hamad Sa­jid Shaikh An­sari, a res­i­dent of Am­rut­na­gar hous­ing so­ci­ety in Mum­bra, had ap­par­ently com­plained to the Thane Mu­nic­i­pal Cor­po­ra­tion re­gard­ing an il­le­gal gate put up by an­other hous­ing com­plex fol­low­ing which the civic body razed it, Mum­bra po­lice sta­tion in­spec­tor Ravin­dra Tayde said.

Irked by his com­plaint and the TMC’s ac­tion, the ac­cused ap­pre­hended An­sari last evening near the hous­ing com­plex gate.

They al­legedly beat him up with stumps and rods and also at­tacked him with sharp weapons, he said.

An­sari was rushed to a hos­pi­tal where he was de­clared dead, he said. Two of the as­sailants have been iden­ti­fied as Ma­jid Kazi and Mo­ham­mad, and a man­hunt is on to nab all the four men who are at large, he said.

Of­fences un­der sec­tion 302 (mur­der) read with 34 (acts done by sev­eral per­sons in fur­ther­ance of com­mon in­ten­tion) of the IPC and rel­e­vant sec­tions of the Bom­bay Po­lice Act have been reg­is­tered, Tayde said, adding that fur­ther probe is on into the case.
