CIVIC BODY TO HOLD FOOD, CULTURAL FEST NEXT MONTH
For t he f i rst time, Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has decided to organise food festival to promote healthy eating habit among the city residents from February 11 to 14. It will be held at sector 15 in Belapur.
The festival will include more than 100 food and craft stalls along with live performances by musicians and dancers. An organic food stall will be set up and workshops on healthy eating and cooking habits will also be held there.
Residents can get certificates for participating in a one- day workshop by a celebrity chef. The workshops will include those on secret health recipes and cooking dishes rich in Omega 3 followed by a free health check-up for kids.
“In their busy schedule, these days people have virtually forgotten the habit of eating properly. Therefore, to usher in habit of healthy eating we have decided to organise this programme,” said an NMMC official.
“This apart, we are also trying to promote the indigenous cultures of different communities through the cultural programmes which will be part of the event. Budding talents of the city will be given chance to perform in the programmes,” he added.
DT Waghmare, municipal commissioner of NMMC said, “All around development of the children as well as other residents is one of priorities. So we are just doing our part by organising such programmes in the city.”
