CIVIC BODY TO HOLD FOOD, CUL­TURAL FEST NEXT MONTH

For t he f i rst time, Navi Mum­bai Mu­nic­i­pal Cor­po­ra­tion (NMMC) has de­cided to or­gan­ise food fes­ti­val to pro­mote healthy eat­ing habit among the city res­i­dents from Fe­bru­ary 11 to 14. It will be held at sec­tor 15 in Belapur.

The fes­ti­val will in­clude more than 100 food and craft stalls along with live per­for­mances by mu­si­cians and dancers. An or­ganic food stall will be set up and work­shops on healthy eat­ing and cook­ing habits will also be held there.

Res­i­dents can get cer­tifi­cates for par­tic­i­pat­ing in a one- day work­shop by a celebrity chef. The work­shops will in­clude those on se­cret health recipes and cook­ing dishes rich in Omega 3 fol­lowed by a free health check-up for kids.

“In their busy sched­ule, th­ese days peo­ple have vir­tu­ally for­got­ten the habit of eat­ing prop­erly. There­fore, to usher in habit of healthy eat­ing we have de­cided to or­gan­ise this pro­gramme,” said an NMMC of­fi­cial.

“This apart, we are also try­ing to pro­mote the in­dige­nous cul­tures of dif­fer­ent com­mu­ni­ties through the cul­tural pro­grammes which will be part of the event. Bud­ding tal­ents of the city will be given chance to per­form in the pro­grammes,” he added.

DT Waghmare, mu­nic­i­pal com­mis­sioner of NMMC said, “All around de­vel­op­ment of the chil­dren as well as other res­i­dents is one of pri­or­i­ties. So we are just do­ing our part by or­gan­is­ing such pro­grammes in the city.”
