KDMC blamed for poor water supply in Kalyan east
When Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) deputy mayor Vikram Tare visited areas in Kalyan east to get an update on the water woes, he expressed his dissatisfaction over the water supply to the areas.
“I am not happy with the civic body on its poor water supply to Kalyan east areas. The hurdles need to be studied and water supply should reach these areas,” said Tare. He was accompanied by KDMC water department deputy engineer Tarun Juneja.
The KDMC’s 24 wards in Kalyan east have increased to 32 after 27 villages were merged in the municipal corporation. The major problems are the lowpressure and contaminated water supply. The residents have been protesting against the problem for a long time.
Former local corporator Uday Rasal, who was also present during the review, said there has been no solution to the long-pending issue. “I have been complaining about the water problems for the past five years. I don’t think there is any development. If it continues, I will hold a massive protest against the civic body,” said Rasal.
Juneja said they have prepared a detailed report on the water problem. “We plan to hire a private agency to conduct a survey. We have plans to provide water to such areas through Amrut Yojana,” he said.
The officials found that water mapping machines had not been installed by the civic body to check whether proper amount of water reaches Kalyan east.
“A machine to regulate the water supply was supposed to be installed at the Patri pool,” said Tare.
