Electronic appliances worth ` 5 lakh stolen from Vashi store
VASHI: The Vashi police have registered a case after some unidentified people broke into a store and stole electronic appliances worth Rs5 lakh on Thursday.
According to the police, the complainant Dinesh Rajawat, 46, went home closing the store at Vardhaman market around 8.30 pm on Wednesday.
He realised the theft when he came to the store next morning. He approached the police and registered an FIR. “The culprits entered the store by breaking the locks of the shutter. There was no security guard in the shop when the theft took place,” said a police officer from Vashi police station.
“We have registered a case under section 454, 457, and 380 of the Indian Penal Code against the unidentified culprits. We are now investigating the matter and hope to arrest them soon,” said another police officer.
According to t he crime branch of ficials, Rabale saw the highest burglaries last year.
“We are taking various initiatives for creating awareness among the people. Our detection officials have formed teams and are patrolling on the roads at nights. We are also conducting nakabandis at all arterial roads,” said one officer from Rabale police station.
In 2015, as many as 609 burglaries were reported in Navi Mumbai, of which, only 275 cases were solved by the police.
