Elec­tronic ap­pli­ances worth ` 5 lakh stolen from Vashi store

The Vashi po­lice have reg­is­tered a case af­ter some uniden­ti­fied peo­ple broke into a store and stole elec­tronic ap­pli­ances worth Rs5 lakh on Thurs­day.

Ac­cord­ing to the po­lice, the com­plainant Di­nesh Ra­jawat, 46, went home clos­ing the store at Vard­haman mar­ket around 8.30 pm on Wed­nes­day.

He re­alised the theft when he came to the store next morn­ing. He ap­proached the po­lice and reg­is­tered an FIR. “The cul­prits en­tered the store by break­ing the locks of the shut­ter. There was no se­cu­rity guard in the shop when the theft took place,” said a po­lice of­fi­cer from Vashi po­lice sta­tion.

“We have reg­is­tered a case un­der sec­tion 454, 457, and 380 of the In­dian Pe­nal Code against the uniden­ti­fied cul­prits. We are now in­ves­ti­gat­ing the mat­ter and hope to ar­rest them soon,” said an­other po­lice of­fi­cer.

Ac­cord­ing to t he crime branch of fi­cials, Ra­bale saw the high­est bur­glar­ies last year.

“We are tak­ing var­i­ous ini­tia­tives for cre­at­ing aware­ness among the peo­ple. Our de­tec­tion of­fi­cials have formed teams and are pa­trolling on the roads at nights. We are also con­duct­ing naka­ban­dis at all ar­te­rial roads,” said one of­fi­cer from Ra­bale po­lice sta­tion.

In 2015, as many as 609 bur­glar­ies were re­ported in Navi Mum­bai, of which, only 275 cases were solved by the po­lice.
