Hindustan Times ST (Mumbai) - HT Navi Mumbai Live - - NAVI MUMBAI -

Cidco has four fire stations at Kharghar, New Panvel, Kalamboli and Uran with a total of 132 firemen and officers.

At present, the four fire stations have only five fire tenders

There is also only one vehicle to combat fire in high-rises and that too is outdated.

There is a need for around 10 to 15 vehicles according to fire department officials.

A proposal for the same is presently being prepared. It includes the requirement of 5 mini fire tenders.

Cidco has constructed one fire station at Ulwe and it is likely to be inaugurated by March-end. This station will also cover nearby Donagiri and the peripheral areas. It will also have quarters for 32 staffers.

They have decided to purchase six more fire engines and every station will get two engines after that.

They hired 60 firemen a few months ago and do not have any shortage of manpower.

As of now, Cidco has only one 32-metre skylift which can reach only up to eighth floor of a building.
