Kalyan to get bet­ter health fa­cil­i­ties

The mu­nic­i­pal hospi­tals in Kalyan will soon have up­graded fa­cil­i­ties.

The Kalyan-Dom­bivli Mu­nic­i­pal Cor­po­ra­tion (KDMC) com­mis­sioner will pre­pare a pro­posal for a med­i­cal and a nurs­ing col­lege and im­prove fa­cil­i­ties in civic hospi­tals. The pro­posal will be pre­sented in the next gen­eral body meet­ing.

The de­ci­sion to upgrade fa­cil­i­ties was taken at a meet­ing be­tween the KDMC com­mis­sioner E Ravendi­ran and Kalyan MP Shrikant Shinde on Tues­day. It was de­cided to build a med­i­cal and a nurs­ing col­lege and col­lege. “Sev­eral stu­dents from Kalyan, Dom­bivli and nearby ar­eas have to travel to Mum­bai and Nashik to study medicine and nurs­ing,” said Shinde.

Shinde pro­posed an idea of us­ing the 28 acre plot re­served for a med­i­cal col­lege in Tit­wala and the KDMC has ap­proved it.

“We can build a med­i­cal col­lege in the plot on pub­lic-pri­vate part­ner­ship ba­sis. The pro­posal will be pre­sented in the gen­eral body meet­ing,” said Ravendi­ran.
