Walking across the country to spread harmony, peace
DOMBIVLI: Vidyadhar Buskute, 64, has covered 3,300 kms since he started his walk from Kibithoo in Arunachal Pradesh on October 26 last year.
The Dombivli resident has reached Udaipur in Rajasthan and his walk will end at Porbander in Gujarat on February 27.
“I am walking to promote peace, harmony, healthy environment and education among the deprived people,” said Buskute.
“I have reached Udaipur in Rajasthan and have already walked 3,300 kms from Kibithoo in Arunachal Pradesh. I meet several people throughout my journey and share the message of peace and harmony,” said Bhuskute.
By March this year, the senior citizen from Dombivli aims to cover 4,000 kms.
In 2013-14, he had walked from Srinagar to Kanyakumari and made it to the Limca Book of Records.
“I come from a family of social activists and freedom fighters. Walking is a daily habit for me. However, I took this habit to the next level last year by walking from the northern tip of the country to the southern tip in 2013-14 covering around 4,000 kms,” said the resident of Milapnagar.
A retired bank employee, Bhuskute walks at least 35 to 40 kms every day and meets farmers, labourers and orphans, spreading the message of har mony.
Son of social activists Sindhutai and freedom fighter Diwangat, Buskute has been involved in social activities throughout his life. He has decided to spread awareness of his works and vision through walking. “I will continue walking till my health and mind permits,” said Bhuskute.
