Walk­ing across the coun­try to spread har­mony, peace

DOM­BIVLI: Vidyad­har Buskute, 64, has cov­ered 3,300 kms since he started his walk from Kibithoo in Arunachal Pradesh on Oc­to­ber 26 last year.

The Dom­bivli res­i­dent has reached Udaipur in Ra­jasthan and his walk will end at Por­ban­der in Gu­jarat on Fe­bru­ary 27.

“I am walk­ing to pro­mote peace, har­mony, healthy en­vi­ron­ment and education among the de­prived peo­ple,” said Buskute.

“I have reached Udaipur in Ra­jasthan and have al­ready walked 3,300 kms from Kibithoo in Arunachal Pradesh. I meet sev­eral peo­ple through­out my jour­ney and share the mes­sage of peace and har­mony,” said Bhuskute.

By March this year, the se­nior ci­ti­zen from Dom­bivli aims to cover 4,000 kms.

In 2013-14, he had walked from Sri­na­gar to Kanyaku­mari and made it to the Limca Book of Records.

“I come from a fam­ily of so­cial ac­tivists and free­dom fight­ers. Walk­ing is a daily habit for me. How­ever, I took this habit to the next level last year by walk­ing from the north­ern tip of the coun­try to the south­ern tip in 2013-14 cov­er­ing around 4,000 kms,” said the res­i­dent of Mi­lap­na­gar.

A re­tired bank em­ployee, Bhuskute walks at least 35 to 40 kms ev­ery day and meets farm­ers, labour­ers and or­phans, spread­ing the mes­sage of har mony.

Son of so­cial ac­tivists Sind­hutai and free­dom fighter Di­wan­gat, Buskute has been in­volved in so­cial ac­tiv­i­ties through­out his life. He has de­cided to spread aware­ness of his works and vi­sion through walk­ing. “I will con­tinue walk­ing till my health and mind per­mits,” said Bhuskute.
