Khalapur to be developed as smart city
CBD BELAPUR: Eleven villages have come together to build a modern smart integrated township.
Khalapur Nagar panchayat, Kalote Mokashi gram panchayat, Nadode gram panchayat representing the 11 villages have voluntarily pooled 3,550 hectares to develop an integrated township on the lines of NAINA scheme.
The success of the initiative could trigger the spirit of voluntarily participation and boost the overall development of NAINA.
The Khalapur special purpose vehicle will contribute 40% land for the project — 25% for physical and social infrastructure, 15% for growth centres and develop 60% land. The development of physical and social infrastructure within the 60% land component will be Khalapur SPV’s responsibility.
Senior public relations officer of Cidco Mohan Ninawe said: “Cidco will provide the city and peripheral level infrastructure by utilising 15% growth centre lands contributed to the project within ten years in phased manner after approval of Khalapur Smart City Project Development Plan by the state government.”
He added, “All the rules and regulations as applicable under NAINA Scheme, acts notified by the central and state government and any other regulations by any regulatory authorities shall be binding on the Khalapur SPV.”
Ninawe said: “Cidco will appoint a nodal officer for the project. All approval and clearances for the project will be rout- ed through nodal officer for the development of infrastructural works.”
The total cost of developing this integrated township is estimated to be Rs7,909 crore. The Khalapur SPV will develop internal infrastructure at the cost of Rs3,287 crore while Cidco will invest Rs4,622 crore towards city and peripheral level infrastructures. The work on this project will start by 2017.
Ninawe added: “The voluntary land pooling of Khalapur village will set a benchmark for urban land development through voluntarily participation.”
THE TOTAL COST OF DEVELOPING THE INTEGRATED TOWNSHIP IS ESTIMATED TO BE RS7,909 CRORE. THE WORK ON THE PROJECT WILL START BY 2017.
