Civic body plans con­tests to laud women’s tal­ents

Navi Mum­bai Mu­nic­i­pal Cor­po­ra­tion (NMMC) has planned a spe­cial event on on March 8, In­ter­na­tional Wo m e n ’ s D a y, to aw a r d Kran­ti­jy­oti Sav­it­ribai Phule award to reg­is­tered women or­gan­i­sa­tions and man­dals for their ser­vices.

In or­der to pro­mote the tal­ent of women and girls, women self-help groups, mahila man­dal and women’s or­gan­i­sa­tions, it has also planned a se­ries of com­pe­ti­tions.

The com­pe­ti­tions in­clude ran­goli, cook­ing, salad dress­ing, mak­ing ar­ti­cles from waste, es­say writ­ing, solo singing, group singing, group dance, group drama and so on.

The top­ics for ran­goli com­pe­ti­tion are clean Maharashtra drive, save en­vi­ron­ment and save girl child. Par­tic­i­pants need to make ran­goli on one topic. The com­pe­ti­tion will be held at the ward-level.

The cook­ing com­pe­ti­tion in­cludes pre­par­ing var­i­ous veg­e­tar­ian del­i­ca­cies, while the topic for es­say is fe­male in­fan­ti­cide. The dances will be of tra­di­tional types.

Ap­pli­ca­tions have been in­vited in pre­scribed for­mat for par­tic­i­pa­tion in the com­pe­ti­tion and for the award from mahila man­dal and or­gan­i­sa­tions ded­i­cated to women and child wel­fare ac­tiv­i­ties.

An of­fi­cial of the so­cial de­vel­op­ment depart­ment of NMMC said: “Ap­pli­ca­tion forms are avail­able at all eight ward of­fices and so­cial de­vel­op­ment depart­ment of NMMC lo­cated on the first floor at Belapur Bha­van in sec­tor 11 of CBD Belapur.”

He added, “Stalls will be pro­vided free to women or­gan­i­sa­tions for prod­ucts made by them.”

The last date for sub­mit­ting ap­pli­ca­tions is Fe­bru­ary 25.

The so­cial de­vel­op­ment depart­ment of NMMC has ap­pealed to women, girls, self­help groups, women man­dals and or­gan­i­sa­tions to take part in the com­pe­ti­tions in large num­bers.
