The height of the skylift that Cidco has is just 32 metres and it can reach up to only eight floor of a building. Therefore, the planning agency had to ask for skylift of 62 metres from Vashi to reach the fifteenth floor of the Kharghar building which caught fire on January 27.

Apart from that, Cidco also does not have sufficient fire engines to cover all the areas-Kharghar, Kamothe, Kalamboli, New Panvel and Ulwe. For covering the huge area, they have four fire stations at Kharghar, New Panvel, Kalamboli and Uran with 132 firemen and officers.

According to the sources from their fire department, each station has only one fire engine. Only Kharghar has one big water tank and the 32-metre skylift. Cidco has decided to purchase one 55 metres and one 70 metres skylifts. They will be delivered within a few months.
